The Last Year or So..... An Update

10/11/2018

Its been a year and several months since I've graduated college, and what a whirlwind it has been. Since I came back home I have been non-stop with shows and designing.
I'll list them:

As a Sound Designer
The Voice of The Prairie - College of Southern Maryland
My Children, My Africa - College of Southern Maryland
Around The World In 8 Plays - College of Southern Maryland
Journey's End - College of Southern Maryland
Hairspray - Tantallon Community Players
The Heidi Chronicles - Hard Bargain Players
Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike - College of Southern Maryland
Let The Right One In - Hard Bargain Players

As an Actor
Sister Act as Curtis Jackson - Port Tobacco Players
The Hound of the Baskervilles as Dr. James Mortimer- Port Tobacco Players
Ragtime as Booker T Washington - College of Southern Maryland
U-Street, The Musical as Booker T - Momentum Collective Inc.
Jesus Christ Superstar as King Herod - Port Tobacco Players
Hairspray as Gilbert/ u.s. Seaweed - Tantallon Community Players

Needless to say I took a summer off! While I was resting my mind, body, and soul, and also recharging my creative juices I was offered a job as Company Sound Designer and Guest Artist for the 2018/2019 season at the College of Southern Maryland. So I'm getting paid to Sound Design their upcoming 6 shows which started with Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike. Including Sound Design, I'm directing an adaptation of Br'er Rabbit that I wrote for the College of Southern Maryland.

Its going to be a great year coming, I can feel it in my bones.

After this year is over, I'm going to start looking into grad schools. Sound Design has really taken over my mind. I would go and see shows and within my mind sound design it as the performers are giving it all on stage. So I may go for a grad program that offers Sound Design.

Acting will always be my love and passion, but I'm going to start being very selective about the parts and shows I choose to audition for. Don't get me wrong, I would love every opportunity I get, but there are some parts and character types that I've played over and over again and now I want something that will really challenge me and make me dig deep. Booker T (U-Street), Booker T Washington (Ragtime), and The Oldest Old Man/Oddsee Dog (Father Comes Home From The Wars) , really make me work and I enjoyed that aspect of those characters and I would play those parts over again if the chance came up.

Until Next Time, Stay Amazing, You Beautiful Creature!

    A Blog?

I'm a guy blogging about what he loves to do, theatre. Also, I may post about other things, like shows I see, events I go to, stuff like that! Or just random musings and life updates. Granted, I'll have to keep up with it. I'll hold myself to that!

A Review

If nothing else, the performance of Kenneth L. Waters, Jr. make this a must-see experience. Waters portrays Mitch, the “comfort counselor.” Mitch is completing his community service hours by performing this job at the Bee. Waters was so convincing that I first wondered if he was just really this type of character in real life. The major brilliance of the performance by Waters is fully revealed when he also play the one of fathers to one of the characters. Waters transforms from knife-wielding thug to cake-baking nurturer. Waters even further shows his amazing technique and skill when he briefly plays a different character’s father and just as seamlessly transforms into a third, completely different character. Waters demonstrated strong vocals and he has an especially rich and pleasing tone. Overall, one of the best performances that I have seen in local theater." - a review on 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Tantallon Players from Showbiz Radio
