EPISODE 2 - The Last Five Years

The Last Five Years is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown. It premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was then produced Off-Broadway in March 2002. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.

Gary Bernard DiNardo (He/Him)  is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his BSN, as well as a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his BA in Theatre Arts. Over the past five years he has performed in Northern Virginia and Maryland community theatres. A 2019 WATCH Award recipient for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Play for his role in “Bent,” he is proud to spend his workdays at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as the Administrator of the Blood and Marrow Collection Program. There he works with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) network and selfless Donors from all over the country, to provide hope to recipients all around the globe.
