EPISODE 5 - Growing Up In Theatre

A WHOLE NOTE SPECIAL

Chatting with two families about having their children do theatre and the effect it has had on their children's lives.

About The Guests
David Graham (He/Him) & Theresa Graham (She/Her)
David grew up in middle Tennessee, before embarking on a career in theatre, performing for audiences spanning international refugees in Swedish schools to inmates inside Sing Sing Prison. After leaving the road and returning to the United States, David took to his hometown theatre, working both onstage and behind the scenes. Joining in from time to time is his daughter Theresa. Appearing onstage first at only two and a half weeks old, she now enjoys auditioning for youth roles and performing with other kids. When not at the theatre, both David and Theresa enjoy drawing and reading.

Kelly Patton (She/Her) & Logan Patton (He/Him)
Kelly and Logan live in Maryland.  Kelly’s did theater in high school but is now Logan’s biggest fan.  Kelly spends her time teaching at the college level, homeschooling Logan, volunteering, and reading. Logan is finishing up 8th grade and enjoys playing baseball and video games, snowboarding, listening to music, and of course, loves acting and the theater. Logan has been performing in local theaters and drama classes for the past seven years and hopes to continue with acting as his career. Both Logan and Kelly enjoy going to shows and look forward to the return of live theater!

A Review

If nothing else, the performance of Kenneth L. Waters, Jr. make this a must-see experience. Waters portrays Mitch, the “comfort counselor.” Mitch is completing his community service hours by performing this job at the Bee. Waters was so convincing that I first wondered if he was just really this type of character in real life. The major brilliance of the performance by Waters is fully revealed when he also play the one of fathers to one of the characters. Waters transforms from knife-wielding thug to cake-baking nurturer. Waters even further shows his amazing technique and skill when he briefly plays a different character’s father and just as seamlessly transforms into a third, completely different character. Waters demonstrated strong vocals and he has an especially rich and pleasing tone. Overall, one of the best performances that I have seen in local theater." - a review on 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Tantallon Players from Showbiz Radio
